Dental Practice SEO Playbook

Everything you need to outrank every dentist in your market. Use it yourself or let us build it all for you in days, not months.

The Problem

Your Competitors Are Outranking You. Here’s Why.

The average dental website has 8–15 pages. That covers your homepage, about, and a handful of service pages. Your patients are searching thousands of ways — by procedure, by city, by question. No page = no ranking. Here’s what you’re missing.

Pages Not Getting Indexed

Most dental sites have pages Google has never even crawled. They’re published but invisible — no sitemap submission, no internal links pointing to them. Google Search Console shows “Discovered – currently not indexed” on service after service. If Google hasn’t indexed your dental implants page, patients searching for it will never find you.

Wrong Meta Titles and Descriptions (or None at All)

We see dental sites where every page has the same title: “Welcome | Smile Dental.” Others have no meta descriptions at all — Google writes one using random text from the page. Your meta title and description are your ad copy in search results. Generic or missing meta = patients clicking your competitor instead.

No Schema Markup (or Broken Schema)

Most dental sites have zero structured data or misconfigured schema from a plugin — wrong @type (LocalBusiness instead of Dentist), missing practitioner credentials, no FAQ markup. Pages with FAQ schema are 3.2x more likely to be cited by ChatGPT and Perplexity. No schema = invisible to AI search.

Service Pages Written Like It’s 1999

“We proudly offer comprehensive dental care for the whole family. Your smile is our passion! Dedicated to excellence in dentistry.” This copy was outdated in 2010. Today’s Google and AI need specificity: what procedure, what city, what insurance you accept, what it costs, what technology you use. Vague feel-good copy gets buried.

Templated Pages — NOT Built for GEO or AI

Swap the city name and the content reads the same. Google and AI systems treat these as duplicates — they cite ONE and ignore the rest. Dental location pages need local specifics: community demographics, nearby hospitals, competing practices, neighborhood names, and insurance networks common to that area.

No Answer Capsules for AI Citations

72% of pages cited by ChatGPT have an answer capsule: a 40–60 word paragraph directly below the H1 with the procedure, location, and a complete answer. Most dental websites don’t have this. When a patient asks AI “best dentist for implants in Scottsdale,” your page gets skipped for one that does.

Zero Internal Linking Strategy

Your dental implants hub should link to every city page. City pages should cross-link to neighboring cities and related procedures. Most dental sites have orphan pages — no internal links, so Google never crawls them. Site architecture IS your dental SEO strategy.

No Blog — No Topical Authority

Google rewards topical expertise. A dental site with 10 service pages and no blog has zero topical depth. Competitors publishing “Invisalign vs braces: which is right for you?” and “how to know if you need a root canal” are building authority that lifts their ENTIRE site’s rankings.

Fewer Than 20 Pages Total

The average dental website has 8–12 pages. Homepage, about, services, contact — that’s it. While you fight for “dentist near me” on one page, competitors with 500+ procedure-specific location pages dominate every search in every neighborhood. Scale is the new competitive advantage.

Technical SEO Disasters

Slow load times, no SSL certificate, broken links, duplicate H1 tags, missing image alt text, no XML sitemap, robots.txt blocking important pages, no mobile optimization. We find 3–5 of these on every dental site we audit. Each one silently kills your rankings and costs you patients.

Reality Check

Fixing all 10 of these gaps takes 200–400 hours of expert SEO work. Most agencies charge $150–300/hour. That’s $30,000–$120,000 and 3–6 months — just to fix what’s broken, before you start building new pages.

Or we fix all of this AND build 2,000+ pages for you.

Step 1: Page Architecture

You Need 2,000+ Pages. Here’s the Blueprint.

This is the page structure that separates dental practices on page 1 from those stuck on page 5. Eight service hubs, state expansions, and city-level pages for every market you serve.

8 Hub Pages You Need

Cosmetic Dentistry

Veneers, bonding, smile makeovers, tooth contouring

Dental Implants

Single implants, All-on-4, implant-supported dentures

Invisalign & Clear Aligners

Teen aligners, adult aligners, retainers, treatment plans

Emergency Dentistry

Cracked teeth, knocked-out teeth, abscesses, same-day care

Teeth Whitening

In-office whitening, take-home kits, Zoom, sensitivity

Dental Crowns

CEREC same-day, porcelain, zirconia, crown replacement

Root Canal Treatment

Anterior, molar, retreatment, post-procedure care

Pediatric Dentistry

First visits, sealants, fluoride, sedation for children

How They Connect (URL Hierarchy)

/services/dental-implants/ ← Hub Page (2,000+ words) /dental-implants-texas/ ← State Page (1,800+ words) /dental-implants-houston-tx/ ← City Page (1,500+ words) /dental-implants-dallas-tx/ ← City Page /dental-implants-san-antonio-tx/ ← City Page /dental-implants-florida/ ← State Page /dental-implants-miami-fl/ ← City Page /dental-implants-orlando-fl/ ← City Page/services/cosmetic-dentistry/ ← Hub Page /cosmetic-dentistry-california/ ← State Page /cosmetic-dentistry-los-angeles-ca/ ← City Page …

The math: 8 hubs × 10 states × 25 cities = 2,080 pages

Reality Check

Writing one page per day = 5.7 years to finish. Hiring a writer at $50/page = $104,000. And that’s before SEO metadata, schema markup, internal linking, and publishing.

We build and publish all 2,080 pages in days, not months.

Step 2: Keyword Research

50 Keywords Your Competitors Are Ranking For

These are the keywords that drive new patient appointments for dental practices. If you don’t have a page targeting each one in every city you serve, your competitor does.

Reality Check

50 keywords × 25 cities = 1,250 pages minimum. Each needs unique local content (not just swapping the city name), SEO metadata, schema markup, and internal links. That’s months of full-time work.

We target all 50 keywords across every city you serve. Automatically.
